Local Government

Local Councils have the responsibility for delivering key services to the local population. Such services include, Education and Social Care through to Waste Management and Street Lighting.

The Councils are staffed by democratically elected members, who work alongside paid officers across the estimated 400 different occupations within Local Government.

With the UK Public Sector employing over 5.7 million people (Q2 2007), this is a vast and diverse market. It offers Graduates a wealth of opportunity with regard to career development and progression.
