Job Roles and Requirements

Within the army there are 7 main job groups:

• Combat
• Engineering
• Logistics and Support
• Intelligence, IT and Comms
• Medical
• Music and Ceremonial
• HR and Finance

The British Special Air service

Joining the SAS is very difficult and selection only happens twice a year. Once in Summer and once in Winter regardless of the weather. The SAS is made up from volunteers from all arms and corps of the British Army, Navy and Airforce. You must have a minimum of three years service in a British unit before you can apply for selection.

The SAS only recruit men and the selection is based upon three processes

1. Fitness and Navigation
2. Jungle Training
3. Combat Survival

The process can take anything up to six months and if you succed you are badged into the SAS.

Every newcomer is on probation for 12 months.
