Emergency Services
Day-to-day services are provided by the Police, Fire Service, Ambulance Service, and Coast Guard.
However, there is also a great deal of planning and strategising involved, as regards preparing for incidents which may occur.
Major emergencies include natural disasters (flooding, gales and snow), transportation incidents (roads, railways), acts of terrorism (bomb threats and evacuations), public order disturbances (demonstrations & riots), chemical hazards (gas, nuclear waste), loss of utilities (power, water).
While the majority of job roles within the emergency services are within the organisations shown above, there are many areas of specialisation which are often available to employees once training and probationary periods have been completed.
