Fire Service
There are 58 separate Fire Brigades in England and Wales. They are all run independently under the command of a Chief Fire Officer.
In Scotland there are 8 Brigades and they are managed by Firemasters. However, this could all be subject to change with the introduction of regional Brigades.
There is no Graduate Scheme at present.
Requirements
- You will need to be 18 years old and over
- Have good eyesight - without contact lenses or glasses
- Physically fit
- All candidates undergo general written and practical tests

Salaries

Salaries for Trainee Fire-Fighters start at £20,396, rising to £27,000 in year five, subject to being fully qualified. Rising to £ 50,000 for an Area Manager.
