There were 141,892 full time equivalent (FTE) Police Officers in the 43 Police Forces in England & Wales as of 31st March 2007. This was an increase of 369 compared to the previous year.
There were 5,540 ethnic minority officers, which equates to 3.9% of the total Police strength.
The total number of Community Support Officers in the 43 police forces was 13,497, this was up 99% on the previous year.
As of the 31st of March 2007, there were 232,948 full time staff (FTE) working in the 43 Police Forces.

In the 12 months to the 31st of March 2007,43 Police Forces recruited 8,671 full time equivalent officers.
35% of recruits were female, 94% of recurits entered the force at constable rank level.
Essex and Hertfordshire had the most recruits, followed by Lincolnshire, Merseyside, Surrey and Warwickshire.
